Rescue, save, deliver! In the Old Testament God is the deliverer! He saves his people over and over again. The greatest example is the deliverance of the Israelite slaves out of Egypt. God loves to rescue! He is the Savior of his church! Trust him to deliver us from evil. He also doesn’t want us to forget his past deliverance!
More than once he tells the Israelite to set a memorial or a remembrance for His mighty acts (Ex 12:14, 13:3; Dt 7:18, 15:15, 16:3, 12, 24:18; Joshua 4:7) They were also indicted because they failed to do this (Ex 32:1-35; Ne 9:1-37) May we as his church not forget the deliverance we have seen or heard!
There is a close connection between God delivering and his covenant relationships. When you belong to him, he promises to deliver you (Jn 10:9; Ro 5:8-10, 10:9, 13, Titus 3:5; He 7:25)!
“I have trusted in Your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in Your deliverance.” Psalm 13:5
Father, though we seem to be surrounded on every side by evil schemes, we will trust in Your faithful love! We rejoice in Your deliverance, though it is not yet! We wait for You God of the universe. Amen!
